Church of the Resurrection is committed to a Kingdom-building ministry in the global and Greenwood communities. Our church budget includes a substantial financial commitment to community and social justice ministries. This year, our local missions are the Soup Kitchen, the Food Bank, Greater Greenwood United Ministries, Healthy Learners, A Child’s Place, and the Greenwood Cancer Fund. Elsewhere in the state, we support York Place, the Episcopal home for children. Overseas, we share in our diocesan mission in Cange, Haiti (see the website of Partners in Health, a partner in that project http://www.pih.org/home.html). In particular, we helped to build and still support the Bishop William A. Beckham School in Blanchard, Haiti, named for a former rector of our parish and bishop of our diocese. We also recently hosted a highly successful fundraiser for the renewal of the water system in Cange.

We are a downtown parish and live our ministry out in the heart of the city. That location offers both challenges and blessings; we give thanks to God for both. Greenwood’s Soup Kitchen got its start in the basement of our Parish House, and many of our members were involved in the creation of United Ministries. Several parishioners are involved in outreach ministries through many agencies in Greenwood. We seek to raise up workers for all our outreach ministries and to discern God’s call to deepen our servant ministry.
